Day 1High Atlas Mountains and the Kasbahs of the South
Morning pick-up from your hotel or riad in Marrakech. The road heads east and climbs into the High Atlas, crossing the Tizi n’Tichka Pass at 2,260 metres with stops at viewpoints above the Amazigh villages along the ridgeline. South of the pass the landscape opens into the pre-Saharan plateau.
At Ait Ben Haddou you cross the river on foot and climb through the ksar — a UNESCO-listed fortified village built from sun-dried earth that has served as a film location for decades. Day 2Todra Gorge and the Dunes of Erg Chebbi
After breakfast, the route heads east through Tinghir and into Todra Gorge, where the canyon narrows to a few metres between walls rising nearly 300 metres. The road leaves Merzouga through the Tafilalt oasis, one of Morocco’s oldest and most extensive date palm regions, before following the Ziz Valley north.
