Day 1High Atlas Mountains and the Kasbahs of the South
Morning pick-up from your hotel or riad in Marrakech. The road heads east and climbs steadily into the High Atlas, crossing the Tizi n’Tichka Pass at 2,260 metres with stops at viewpoints above the Amazigh villages that cling to the hillsides. South of the pass the landscape opens into the pre-Saharan plateau.
At Ait Ben Haddou, you cross the river on foot and climb through the ksar — a UNESCO-listed fortified village of sun-dried earth that has served as a film set for decades. After exploring, the road continues through Ouarzazate and east along the Road of a Thousand Kasbahs, following the river through the Valley of Roses into the Dades Valley for the night. Day 2Todra Gorge and the Dunes of Merzouga
After breakfast, the route heads east through Tinghir and into Todra Gorge, where the canyon narrows to a few metres wide between walls that rise close to 300 metres. From Tinghir the road continues east through Erfoud and across the stony plain toward Merzouga. The orange wall of Erg Chebbi appears without warning as the rocky hamada gives way to sand. On arrival you transfer to the desert camp by camel or 4×4 in time for sunset over the dunes. Day 3Sahara Sunrise to the Imperial City of Fes

After a camp breakfast, the drive heads north through the Tafilalt region and along the Ziz Valley, a long corridor of date palms between desert cliffs. The road climbs into the Middle Atlas through Midelt and past the cedar forests near Azrou, where Barbary macaques live wild among the Atlas cedars.
